About Us

Baynes Sound Insurance Brokers & Merville Black Creek Insurance Brokers Ltd. are a locally owned *Independent Insurance Broker & Consulting Service that opened for business in May 2001. Ric McDermot (owner) had been providing rural property & liability insurance for many years to clients on Northern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.

We are a rural Property & Liability insurance broker offering comprehensive insurance programs and alternative coverages for rural homeowners, business owners, contractors (building/logging),  farms (commercial & hobby), seasonal homes and B&B’s. We visit all our clients prior to setting up their program (see Why Do I Need An Appointment).

Our areas of providing property & liability insurance coverage are from Ship’s Point, Buckley Bay and North, including Merville, Black Creek, Miracle Beach, and Rural Courtenay and Comox. We also provide residential & liability insurance coverage for many clients on the Northern Gulf Islands of Denman Island, Hornby Island, Quadra Island and Cortes Island.
